Short Term

Mid-level ridging will continue to inch slowly to the east through the short term with the center of the ridge axis aligning atop of the Louisiana to Mississippi Valley region by Sunday night. This turns the flow aloft more southwesterly between the exiting ridging and the continued troughing across the southwestern CONUS. Across the lower levels, a more southeasterly component to the flow has established and slightly intensifies into today. This should result in moderate afternoon breezes (stronger than the past few days) through this weekend and a little stronger low-level moisture advection. This would be most noticeable at night where it trends a bit more humid while at least some low-level cloudiness starts to return during the overnight into each morning. There could be a couple stray streamer showers as well during the mornings. If to form, these should focus mainly from the San Antonio metro area or Coastal Plains and any points south-southwest of there. Afternoon mixing will lower the dew points, especially Sunday, which will scatter out the early day low to mid-level level clouds. High clouds, however, will be on the increase as we advance through the weekend. The daytime highs for Sunday are forecast to be a couple degrees lower compared to today as a result of how thick those high level clouds become.
